Hunters will experience pre-rut activity during the first archery hunt and heavy rutting activity during the second archery hunt. Hunting techniques will consist of calling and spot and stalk. Archery hunts will consist of any 6 days of the hunt period unless other arrangements have been made.
Muzzleloader Elk seasons begin October 6th – 10th with the bulls in full rut. The Gila offers three additional hunts in the primitive units being October 13th – 17th, October 20th – 24th and November 17th – 21st. Muzzleloader hunts provide the hunter the opportunity to hunt during the middle of the rut using calling the bulls in to spot and stalk.
